It’s Day 6 of the Catalyst Morning Challenge. (If you haven’t already joined the challenge and you’d like to learn more about how routines can help you meet your goals, visit this link for instructions and to get your free Catalyst Morning Challenge journal).
Today’s contributor is Barbara Huson. Barbara is an author, financial therapist, and the world’s leading authority on women, wealth, and power. She is currently under deadline for her forthcoming book and shares the morning routine she and her husband, Lee, have created.
What is the fifth step you’ll add to your morning routine? Barbara’s spouse is a central part of her morning routine and the start of a centered day. How might you incorporate relationship goals into your morning?
“I’m very intentional about beginning my day peacefully. Every morning is always the same, even when we travel (except we sleep later and order room service). I create a quiet, peaceful morning the sets the tone for the rest of the day. My daughter calls it my sacred tea time!
I get up around 7 am, make breakfast for Lee (nothing fancy, usually cereal. Coffee for him. Green tea for me.) I listen to an inspiring YouTube video. Lee meanwhile is upstairs fluffing up my pillows, straightening the sheets, so it’s all cozy when I bring the tray and get back in bed. Lee reads his iPad and I read the local newspaper and the Wall Street Journal. There’s something about newspapers that soothe my soul! (I ignore the ugly stuff.)
When we’re done eating, Lee reads the daily lesson from A Course in Miracles. We may talk about the message. Or not. Then we meditate, usually around 10 minutes. When we’re done meditating, we discuss our schedules, what we’ll have for dinner, stuff like that.
I am at work, in my home office, by 10am, usually dressed in oversize sweats. I’m all about comfort. That’s my morning ritual. It grounds me, centers me, and I feel very connected to my husband and to Spirit.”
